Kowloon Passage by JonasDeRo Kowloon Passage by JonasDeRo
I know I haven't posted in quite a while. That's because I've been traveling and doing lot of work projects, so less time to paint. :(
But I just got my new computer and Photoshop CS5 with it's awesome new paint tools, so here's a speedpaint inspired by my recent visit to Hong Kong.

1,5 hour

It's my dream to visit Hong Kong one day... I bet 九龍 (Kowloon) is a lot like Taiwan. This picture reminds me of the nooks and crannies along the streets of Taiwan, 永和 (Yonghe).

I love scenes like this one! The detail you manged to put in to this is wonderful! I adore all the posters/flyers and the graffiti~ The rough stone, the random bit of tile on the wall, the exposed pipes, the sacks piled up along the side, it all adds so much life to the setting! I really enjoy how the sun shines though from the top right~

Too bad the Walled City got torn down back in the '90s. Lots of parts of hong kong still look like this though.

The rays of light really set it off. I also am a big fan of the painted look of this one, which i guess comes along with speedpainting. Great work!

Awesome lighting. Did you use a photo while painting this or just all paint from scratch?

sometimes I work off of pictures I've taken, this is actually a street in Kowloon that I painted, perhaps it can be found on google street view to see the similarity
