This sort of work reminds me of those hastily excavated houses near Chernobyl or in the zombie movies...

damn this one is amazing... can you do this kind of room but the living room with characters?... for example a guy or girl watching tv and a window that shows rain outside?
i like this kind of details you put in this picture... the environment is amazing, if you could make another version with that lamp on at night instead... would be a warm and nice feeling to it even if it looks dirty... the feeling of "you cant help but want to clean the place up" ..^^

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I love it! You've captured the squalor of an inner-city tenement kitchen, but the soft sunrise lighting makes this scene lovely! :sun:

Augh, I wish I could just doodle background elements like this!
It looks exactly how I wanted one of my character's kitchens to look, but I couldn't draw it....
So it went from "comic idea" to "short story idea" XD

what did you mean by 'MACHINARIUM. but it's great!!' What's that 'but' for? Did you mean that the name of the game would suggest that it isn't something great? Or maybe your English just sucks :)

Anyway it was my first association with Machinurium too when I saw this art. I agree it's a great game (with a very original, mysterious and pleasant atmosphere) and so it's the 'Dwelling'.

By the way, what did YOU mean with: "I agree it's a great game... and so it's the 'Dwelling'" - you mean 'the Dwelling' is 'a great game' too or what? Moreover, you should've said 'and so is Dwelling', not "so *it's* Dwelling".

Hi @Tobaj :) No - just for the record, my English doesn't suck. I'll actually have my first novel published in US in a few months by Thomas Nelson Publishing (if everything goes as we've planned). Just saying...

Anyway, i said 'but', because I [might have] had the impression that this artwork looked too much like Machinarium and I thought the artist (which by the way is a great & talented artist) inspired himself from that PC game. Eventually, I checked the game again and realized that the artist's work looked way different than the game's background I was talking about :) - I hope everything's clear now, regarding the 'but' word. I'm glad I could help!

--
P.S. Sorry @Jenovah-Art - now I know you didn't inspire yourself from the game and your artwork was the result of your own imagination & inspiration. I appreciate your art! :giggle: :D

Clearly I picked that fragment of your comment out of context. I see it now, the 'but' was related to this art, not to the game. Apologies. Didn't mean to be serious anyway :)

Regarding the resemblances I'm still finding many associations with the game when looking at this pic. I'd say there is more 'MACHINARIUM' in it than just a little bit and the fact that the artist gets inspiration from anything in no way would mean anything bad about the artist or his artwork.

I actually think I drew this before I ever heard of machinarium. but I guess I can see some resemblance with it being hand drawn and grungy textured :)

I really love the look of it. I like the colours, and the sunset (maybe not sunset, it gets this pretty sephia color here after it rains enough), and the mess and grime.

The fact that you can smell the rank and putrid stains and feel the heat in that place, plus the comic book style (ish) make this truly awesome.

I totally agree :) And don't forgot the scenery outside the window which amplifies the whole "rusty & putrid" stuff.
